Each year, Transfiguration hosts Lessons and Carols, one of its most attended and cherished events of the year. The service combines biblical readings that chronicle the story of Jesus’ birth with age-old and contemporary carols. Under the direction of Bob Coursen, director of music, the church choir will perform or accompany the congregation in welcoming the Christmas season. Transfiguration's Lessons and Carols is modeled on the traditional Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols first held on Christmas Eve in 1918 at King’s College Chapel in Cambridge, England. It continues to be broadcast annually from the college, a favorite for thousands of Christians throughout the world. The community is welcome to attend the service at the church located near the intersection of Highway 74 and Meadow Drive.
