Our Living Legacy, Colorado's Historic Schools

Colorado Preservation, Inc. is going on the road to present its documentary "Our Living Legacy: Colorado’s Historic Schools," featuring six school rehabilitation projects from across the state. One of the central goals of the project is to demonstrate that existing historic schools can be rehabilitated to meet today’s standards, save capital costs, provide economic efficiencies through their locations in walkable neighborhoods and be a source of pride to the district, students and community.  Presentations will include an overview of historic schools in Colorado and a discussion of why they should be saved. 

 

A five-minute "teaser" version of the film can be viewed at http://www.coloradopreservation.org/crsurvey/schools/hs_livinglegacy.html.  Colorado Preservation will offer a presentation of this documentary at the Hiwan Homestead Museum in Evergreen, Colorado, on Monday, August 3 at 7:00 P.M.  Hiwan Homestead Museum is located at 4208 S. Timbervale Dr., Evergreen, Colorado 80439.  Hiwan Homestead Museum is a 17-room log mansion constructed in the Rustic style of architecture. It is located in Evergreen at 4208 S. Timbervale Drive and is a Jefferson County Open Space facility operated through a partnership with the Jefferson County Historical Society.
