$1 Million Matching Gift Fuels Plans for New Athletic and Performance Center
 at Evergreen Country Day

[Evergreen, CO] Evergreen Country Day (ECD) received a $1 million matching gift from Megan and Kerry Hicks in support of its recently launched Capital Campaign. The Hicks’ extraordinary contribution has inspired seven additional pledges totaling $500,000, putting the school within reach of plans to build a state-of-the-art Athletic and Performance Center in 2020.

“We are most grateful to Megan and Kerry Hicks for their incredible generosity,” said Interim Head of School, Jennie Anderson. “The Hicks family came to Evergreen Country Day inspired by our strong community. They have offered us this challenge confident that our ECD families will rise to the occasion.”

At ECD’s recent annual fundraiser, Kevin Neher and Seth Gallaher, school board trustees and campaign co-chairs, celebrated the Hicks’ leadership gift and presented the school’s vision for the new facility, including a multi-purpose court (for basketball, volleyball, futsal, and many other uses) and a performance stage.

“We hope that our gift inspires others to step forward and join us in making a difference for mountain area families today and in the future,” said the Hicks. “This new facility will not only enhance the student experience at Evergreen Country Day, it will also provide a space for the entire Evergreen community to learn, play, and thrive.”

The approximately 10,000 square-foot sports and performance center will enrich the experience of ECD students and families by maximizing the school’s existing space and providing a new platform for its expanding performing arts and athletic programs. To ensure the surrounding Evergreen community also benefits from the new facility, ECD will offer year-round access for public gatherings and sporting events.

“At ECD, we provide a well-rounded, vigorous education to prepare our students to thrive when they graduate,” said Anderson. “This new center reflects our commitment to delivering outstanding academic and extracurricular programming in a first-class campus and learning environment.”

To meet the Hicks’ matching gift challenge, ECD plans to raise at least another $500,000 over 12 months. With a ground-breaking already planned for later in 2019, the school hopes to complete the new facility by the end of 2020.
