New Learning Center Opens in Evergreen to support families with online education
Evergreen Colorado: On Aug. 24, educational service company Success4Life Tutoring Services, Inc. officially opened the doors to their new learning center. Designed to support the myriad needs of families around Evergreen, Golden, Lakewood and beyond, the center provides licensed teachers who design and oversee learning activities so students can have meaningful educational experiences while schools are navigating this difficult time due to COVID.
“I’d been receiving requests from families in the community, asking me to find some way to support them while schools are closed or in transition and students are learning remotely,” said Chad Ducklow, president and founder. “A lot of students need additional support from more than just their computer screen, and in many cases, parents must be working remotely and don’t always have time to provide this support.”
In just 3 weeks, Ducklow leased the space below his office on Bergen Parkway, renovated it, hired licensed teachers and opened his center.
“One of our primary services is offering four-hour blocks for students to work on their coursework,” Ducklow explained. “Students work on their computers or devices in rooms demarcated for physical distancing. The teachers roam, engaging with students when they need help or could benefit from an interaction with a teacher.”
Ducklow says that part of the reason this model works is because so many of the students are from the same school districts, and the teachers are familiar with the curriculum of the major school districts in the area.
The learning center also offers many other services and is still identifying ways to support families, whether that’s offering small cohort groups for families who know each other with students in the same grade or families with unique needs.
“This is a new situation, and we are here to meet families where they are at right now,” Ducklow said. “Whether that’s giving parents a stimulating educational environment to send their kids during the day, or designing specialized plans, our teachers are here to help our community.”
