Position: Grant Writer
Reports toExecutive Director
Classification:  Permanent Hourly Employee NON-EXEMPT
Position Type:  Part-time (8-12 hours/week)
Compensation:  $16 - $18/hour commensurate with experience. 
Benefits:  Eligible for benefits including pro-rated vacation and sick time off with pay
Hours:  Flexible according to the needs of the organization. Schedule will be coordinated with the Executive Director.
Job Description: The grant writer is responsible for developing and writing grant proposals, grant solicitations, letters of intent and inquiry, reports, and other written materials to secure funding for program support focusing on federal and state grants, as well as grants from corporate and private foundations. Coordinating the pre-award planning, organization and preparation of various grants, the grant writer works with Executive Director to ensure that all proposals are in compliance with regulatory, funding agency and policy requirements. Previous experience will demonstrate a proven track record in securing new funding opportunities, comprehensive knowledge of research and the ability to distinguish and identify funding opportunities for special programs.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Position will research, analyze, identify, and cultivate funding sources and opportunities from federal and state agencies, private foundations and public corporations to help fiscally execute the organization’s mission.
  • Writes and submits grant proposals and grant reports on behalf of PeaceWorks, Inc. and as requested and required by funders.
  • Works with PeaceWorks Executive Director and finance committee on all aspects of proposal preparation, including budget development, supporting project narrative and final grant reporting.
  • Prepares and presents reports on grant activity.
  • Maintains and tracks all standard and required documentation for grant proposals and submissions.
  • Maintains accurate, timely and regular communications with funders, donors and prospects in coordination with management.
  • Contact potential funding sources to discuss eligibility requirements, criteria, interest, and potential funding opportunities
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required or equivalent of professional experience.
  • Excellence in writing, editing and communication skills.
  • Minimum 2 years professional work experience in non-profit or comparable professional work environment.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in writing, editing, or preparing grant proposals with positive track record for securing funding.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be able to translate technical information and data for stories and cases for support.
  • Proficient in MS Office software, online grants portal access and donor management programs.
The job requires mobility sufficient to perform office and administrative tasks, ascend and descend stairs, drive, and move between office locations; eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment; normal range of hearing, eyesight and ability to record, prepare, and make electronic, verbal, and written communications; ability to talk, hear, sit for long periods, stoop, bend, and stretch; use hands to finger, handle or feel; perform light office and tasks;  occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 20 pounds.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONSWork will be conducted primarily at the Administrative offices in Conifer, CO. Position is eligible to work partially remotely. Some trainings and meetings may occur at off-site locations.
