Graphic Artist
Position: Graphic Artist (Part-Time, approx. 20 hours/week)
Department: Administration: Marketing
Reports To: Marketing Communications Supervisor
Location: Administration Building
Status: Part Time 2 (approx. 20 hours per week)
Hourly Rate: $22.64-$28.47
Under general supervision, and in collaboration with the MarCom Supervisor, the Graphic Artist creates, plans and outlines ideas for graphic material to be used in advertising and promoting the organization and its products or services and for use in publications and other outlets including web and social media.  Plans and outlines the creative services including graphic design, layout and production, displays and other promotional materials used to promote and advertise all aspects of the DistrictAssists in the preparation of written communications and correspondence for marketing functions of advertising, business development, and public relations.
  • Performs technical and creative work in the production of graphic material using industry standard software applications from initial concept through completion.  This includes marketing materials such as brochures, direct mail pieces, banners, annual report, flyers, signage, advertisements, infographics, web graphics, etc.
  • Develop, create and proof marketing material in conjunction with MarCom Supervisor while working within brand guidelines and providing a consistent marketing message.  Coordinate production of printed material and promotional materials, including vendor interaction and inventory management.
  • Ensure that graphics, logos, illustrations and electronic communications adhere to District’s branding and quality standards.
  • Produce three Rec Guides annually and one summer camp insert, including editing, design layout, final format, and coordinating with outside vendor for production and distribution.
  • Assist in creating digital content for website and social media.
  • Ensure the execution of advertising performance including accuracy, consistency, expense control, timeliness, and clear communication among all involved parties.
  • Communicate design standards to staff as well as restrictions/limitations and ensure compliance with District’s graphic and branding standards.
  • Maintain and organize graphic files, including District logos, photos, art, etc.
  • Print procurement- source providers & maintain up-to-date knowledge of prices, materials, processes, and deadlines/delivery as required.
  • Complete report/forms such as requests for payment, credit card reconciliation report, or incident/accident.
  • Assists and may serve as a point of contact for internal and external marketing efforts.
  • Must possess a highly defined focus towards both internal and external guest service.

  • Design and create visually compelling, high quality graphics to promote EPRD.
  • Build and maintain professional internal and external relationships that meet District core values.
  • Communicate with people outside EPRD, representing the District to advertisers, the community, and other external sources.  This information can be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Keep current on new design tools, techniques, and equipment in the graphics field.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage technology to improve processes and develop repeatable processes.
  • Help support and promote district programs and facilities through marketing materials and efforts both in digital and print formats.
  • Assist in the development of a brand strategy meant to position EPRD as a leading business entity within the community stressing the fact that EPRD is one of the largest employers within the community.
  • Help generate revenues through Rec Guide advertisements.
  • Maintain consistent applicable relationships between all EPRD entities, ensuring accurate marketing information is distributed on a regular basis.
  • Strong creative and design skills with great attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong problem solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Acute administrative proficiency in a wide variety of practical applications and software.
  • Excellent written as well as oral communication skills.
  • Understanding and implementation of internal and external guest service.
  • Demonstrate a positive & professional attitude about the company and team members.
  • Thorough knowledge of modern principles, methods, practices, and equipment relating to the functional areas of responsibility.
  • Strong knowledge of graphic design and applicable software necessary to perform functions of the position.
  • Knowledge of modern office procedure methods and general office equipment (computer, copier, fax, phone, etc.). 
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and Microsoft Office software.
  • Experience in prepping all files for final print & digital channel outputs.
  • Ability to collaborate with Marketing team while working independently.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects for multiple program areas, set priorities, and maintain progress of all projects.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally both verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, government officials, civic organizations, community agencies, and the general public.
  • Ability to create visibly stimulating marketing materials reflective of EPRD branding guidelines.
  • A Bachelor's degree is preferred from an accredited college or university in the field of Graphic Design, Graphic Arts, Fine Arts in Graphic Design, or a closely related field.
  • Three to five years of graphic design experience.
  • Experience and proficient in using graphic design applications such as InDesign, Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator.
  • Experience and proficient working on Mac platform and G-Suite.
  • Experience in overseeing print production, print vendor relationships, preparing files for print, performing press checks, and related knowledge of current printing techniques and services.
  • Strong online portfolio reflecting print & digital design experience is required.
