Boogie at the Barn is back!  
Since the first Boogie at the Barn event in the fall of 2012, this series of barn dances has become the must events to attend.  Each of the four Boogie’s have seen over 400 people pack this venerable old barn at Alderfer Ranch for a great night of live music, community and dancing.  This summer will feature three Boogie at the Barn’s beginning with this event on Friday , May 9^th.  Food for purchase will be provided by Bisto Colorado and Texorado food trucks.
 
The night will commence at 5:30pm with music from TBN, a collaboration of talented local Evergreen musicians.
 
The dance will take place at the old Alderfer Ranch barn at Alderfer/Three Sisters Open Space Park. This beloved 100 year-old barn, operated by Evergreen Park & Recreation District, is only open to the public on a very limited basis. Boogie at the Barn, produced by John Erlandson & Pandora Reagan, will raise money for the barn/ranch renovation.

With more than 800 participants, the event draws more attendees than any other nonprofit conference in Colorado. The conference offers networking opportunities, an exhibit hall featuring both nonprofit and business exhibitors, an opening keynote and lunchtime speakers, and professional development sessions on topics from fundraising and marketing to executive leadership and board development.

Walk with a Native Plant Master and discover the importance of our native plants to wildlife and humans as the season changes. Ages 10 yrs to adult. You will meet the naturalist in the main parking lot on Foxton Rd. There is a one mile easy but uneven surfaces hike during this program. On October 6th, Sue Wise CMS-CHt will offer a free presentation on hypnotherapy and hypnosis as an effective process of self-transformation. For thousands of years hypnosis and other meditative practices have empowered people to make positive changes. Participants will learn how to use self- hypnosis and simple techniques of hypnotherapy to improve their lives. Join the Friends of Dinosaur Ridge on Saturday, October 11, 9:30am-3pm as we celebrate Dinosaur Discovery Day: National Fossil Day and Girl Scout Day along with National Archeology Day. Check out the fossils on Dinosaur Ridge as guides show you the dinosaur bones and footprints. Hands-on activities at the Visitor Center include gold panning, dinosaur track painting, and fossil sifting. Search for bugs or birds, play a plant game and investigate the habitat needs of several animals to discover how forest dwellers use their unique adaptations to survive and thrive. Built by the famous architect, Jock Spence, the Episcopalian Church of Transformation is a 115 year old landmark in Evergreen. A revered community figure known for his honest nature, Spence?s distinctive architectural designs are a point of pride for the community. For many people in town, especially those who frequent the Church of Transformation, the Belltower not only holds a special significance because of its architectural provenance, but it is also a comforting reminder of home. Your help is needed to rehabilitate the belltower ? volunteers will remove and reinstall the roof and bell, reassemble the log tower, landscape and hardscape around the building for proper drainage, and replicate logs and replace with in-kind materials. Join us to help save this local historic treasure!

Halloween Tales and Trails Family Event Saturday, October 18, 2014 Lookout Mountain Nature Center 910 Colorow Road Golden, CO 80401 This all-ages, family-friendly, non-scary Halloween festival will feature guided hikes, Halloween crafts, games, storytellers, build-a-scarecrow, and live animals from Nature?s Educators. Guided hikes will leave every 10 minutes. Registration is required for those interested in joining a guided hike. Drop-in participation is welcome for all other ongoing activities. Using graphite pencils, learn to shade with a range of values to add depth to your drawings. While sketching skulls and skeletons, discover more about area wildlife and their unique adaptations for survival. Please bring an item for a shared potluck dinner. CELEBRATE HALLOWEEN AT HIWAN HOMESTEAD MUSEUM! Visit Hiwan Homestead Museum on Thursday, October 30, 2013 from 4 to 7 P.M., for a festive Halloween celebration! Put on your best costume and enjoy Halloween tricks, treats and snacks, creepy music, Halloween decorations in the dark old mansion, and Halloween crafts for kids! This event is free and open to children of all ages. Hiwan Homestead Museum is a 25-room log mansion constructed in the Rustic style of architecture. It is located in Evergreen at 4208 S. Timbervale Drive and is a Jefferson County Open Space facility operated through a partnership with the Jefferson County Historical Society.
