Boogie at the Barn
Boogie at the Barn is back!
Since the first Boogie at the Barn event in the fall of 2012, this series of barn dances has become the must events to attend. Each of the four Boogie’s have seen over 400 people pack this venerable old barn at Alderfer Ranch for a great night of live music, community and dancing. This summer will feature three Boogie at the Barn’s beginning with this event on Friday , May 9th. Food for purchase will be provided by Bisto Colorado and Texorado food trucks.
The night will commence at 5:30pm with music from TBN, a collaboration of talented local Evergreen musicians.
The dance will take place at the old Alderfer Ranch barn at Alderfer/Three Sisters Open Space Park. This beloved 100 year-old barn, operated by Evergreen Park & Recreation District, is only open to the public on a very limited basis. Boogie at the Barn, produced by John Erlandson & Pandora Reagan, will raise money for the barn/ranch renovation.
“Boogie at the Barn” is sponsored by Colorado Serenity, Adams Plumbing and Heating, Intero Real Estate, Chow Down, Mark and Laurie Teter, and Warren and Betsy Rose.

Free Presentation: ?Self Transformation from the Inside Out
On October 6th, Sue Wise CMS-CHt will offer a free presentation on hypnotherapy and hypnosis as an effective process of self-transformation. For thousands of years hypnosis and other meditative practices have empowered people to make positive changes. Participants will learn how to use self- hypnosis and simple techniques of hypnotherapy to improve their lives. Pence Park Trail Construction and Reroute
Get outdoors and give back. Join Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado Oct. 11th, from 8am-4pm, at Pence Park near Evergreen as we work to preserve this popular park. Sections of the Pence Park Trail are unsustainably steep and have been severely eroded. Volunteers will realign these sections of trail to prevent erosion and further degradation of the trail and surrounding habitat. For many people in town, especially those who frequent the Church of Transformation, the Belltower not only holds a special significance because of its architectural provenance, but it is also a comforting reminder of home. Your help is needed to rehabilitate the belltower ? volunteers will remove and reinstall the roof and bell, reassemble the log tower, landscape and hardscape around the building for proper drainage, and replicate logs and replace with in-kind materials. Dinosaur Discovery Day: Girl Scout Day; National Archeology and National Fossil
Join the Friends of Dinosaur Ridge on Saturday, October 11, 9:30am-3pm as we celebrate Dinosaur Discovery Day: National Fossil Day and Girl Scout Day along with National Archeology Day. Check out the fossils on Dinosaur Ridge as guides show you the dinosaur bones and footprints. Hands-on activities at the Visitor Center include gold panning, dinosaur track painting, and fossil sifting. The Church of the Transfiguration will have a haunted house which will be from 6pm to 9pm on Friday and Saturday, October 24th and 25th and on Halloween night. The price $5.00 per person for two times through. Any profit will go to the Bell Tower Restoration Fund.
The haunted house has animatronics and some actors that will pop out and scare people. It will also have a strobe light in case anyone has health issues with that. And, of course, it will be dark with loud music/noises.
It is scary but we do not use gore or satanic stuff.

Haunted House
The Church of the Transfiguration will have a haunted house which will be from 6pm to 9pm on Friday and Saturday, October 24th and 25th and on Halloween night. The price $5.00 per person for two times through. Any profit will go to the Bell Tower Restoration Fund.
The haunted house has animatronics and some actors that will pop out and scare people. It will also have a strobe light in case anyone has health issues with that. And, of course, it will be dark with loud music/noises.
It is scary but we do not use gore or satanic stuff.

Then start keeping a sketchbook nature journal! Join us for a free journaling field trip in a Jeffco Open Space Park each month and make this activity a habit. Halloween and skeletons go hand in hand. For this month?s journal club, head indoors to examine the nature center?s extensive animal bone collection. Using graphite pencils, learn to shade with a range of values to add depth to your drawings. While sketching skulls and skeletons, discover more about area wildlife and their unique adaptations for survival. Please bring an item for a shared potluck dinner. Due to space limitations at the nature center, we will be offering this program twice to accommodate as many people as possible. Please sign up for only one date. ? Hiwan Halloween Celebration
CELEBRATE HALLOWEEN AT HIWAN HOMESTEAD MUSEUM! Visit Hiwan Homestead Museum on Thursday, October 30, 2013 from 4 to 7 P.M., for a festive Halloween celebration! Put on your best costume and enjoy Halloween tricks, treats and snacks, creepy music, Halloween decorations in the dark old mansion, and Halloween crafts for kids! This event is free and open to children of all ages. Hiwan Homestead Museum is a 25-room log mansion constructed in the Rustic style of architecture. It is located in Evergreen at 4208 S. Timbervale Drive and is a Jefferson County Open Space facility operated through a partnership with the Jefferson County Historical Society.
