Event Description:
The United Methodist Church of Evergreen will celebrate Evergreen Rodeo Weekend with a Cowboy Service at 9:30 am on Sunday June 15th. The public is invited to come and worship at this special service. Well-known local entertainers Mike and Ann Moore and some of their family members will be singing and yodeling with members of the UMC Cowboy Band. Guest Artist Chelain Stocker will be playing fiddle, Sandy Sandusky the harmonica, George Wood the banjo, Ann Moore the accordion, along with accompaniment by other guitar and keyboard musicians. Cowboy poetry will be read by George Wood and children will be invited to sit around a ?campfire? and dance to the song ?Cotton-Eyed Joe?. Pastor Russell Fletcher will preach a cowboy-themed sermon, and the congregation and visitors will be invited to sing-a-long to some favorite cowboy ballads. Local artist Roger Ambrosier will display some of his western artwork in the sanctuary, which will be decorated with western props. After the service all are invited to a stay for a Chuck Wagon lunch. Donations received for the lunch will support the UMC Youth Mission trip to Alaska this summer.
