Event Description:
The Perseid Meteor Shower is one of the best meteor showers of the year. Join us for an evening under the stars and see how many you can count before the night is done. Listen to a short lecture on various different topics about the moon and look at objects in the night sky through binoculars and telescopes. Program Details: All ages/Family Please dress to be outside, at night, and standing still while looking at the stars. Dress in warm layers, coats, sweaters, and hats as needed. Please bring a flashlight preferably with a red filter or bulb. Feel free to bring your own binoculars and/or telescope (not required). We also recommend chairs or blankets to sit on, snacks, water, hot chocolate, etc. You will meet the naturalist in the main parking lot of Hildebrand Ranch Park at the kiosk. This program will involve little to no hiking. Please leave pets at home. Let's play and learn outside! Our programs go rain, snow, or shine! So, dress accordingly. Cloudy skies are not always a reason for us to cancel. Our astronomy programs often have activitites other than telescope viewing and the weather changes quickly in Colorado! We will cancel the program if the weather is hazardous or unsafe. If a program is canceled we will send an e-mail and/or call each registered participant. You can also check the event listing.
